Founded in 1801, it’s the oldest museum in the town of Bordeaux.
His collection of paintings, sculptures and graphic arts radiates through the numerous loans (betwen 200 and 300 each year) made to French and foreign museums.


The museum's permanent collection of European painting and sculpture is displayed in the Lacour and Bonheur wings, following a route that retraces the major periods of art history, the principal centres and leading movements from the 15th to the 20th century with works by Titian, Veronese, Rubens, Van Dyck, Chardin, Delacroix, Corot, Picasso and Matisse...
