Filming and photography at the MusBA

Photography and brief filming are permitted in the museum for strictly personal use, without a flash so as not to damage the works, and without tripods or selfie sticks so as not to obstruct other visitors.  
Remember to tag the museum if you post your videos and photos on social media #MusBAetmoi!  

Students are permitted to film in the museum during opening hours, subject to the same conditions (please refer to the Student section below if your filming requires specific logistics). 

 For any use other than private use, a request must be sent to the management of the Musée des Beaux-Arts: musba@mairie-bordeaux.fr. If in doubt, please contact the museum reception desk before taking any photographs or filming inside the museum. 

If your filming requires specific logistics, as part of an artistic and/or educational project, you must submit a request to the Musée des Beaux-Arts as soon as possible and at least one month before you begin. The request must specify the terms of distribution: educational use and projects that may be used in the classroom or published on social media free of charge.

The museum’s assessment criteria are: 

• Whether the project is relevant to the museum’s collections or exhibitions and whether it will enhance the value of the works and the museum;
• The museum team’s ability to accommodate filming during the requested period. 

Professional filming 

The museum welcomes crews throughout the year for documentary filming, feature-length/medium/short films, TV dramas, advertising campaigns, etc. 

If you are an audiovisual production company and would like to use the spaces at the Musée des Beaux-Arts for one of your projects, we are available to discuss filming conditions with you. Please send your request to musba-privatisation@mairie-bordeaux.fr. 

Journalists  

All requests for filming and photography for the purpose of promoting the museum in the written or audiovisual press must be made within a reasonable time frame prior to the start of filming and/or photography.
