Hanging in honour of the generous donation from the Societty of Friends of the museum of Fine Arts, which enabled the acquisition of a pen preparatory study by Eugène Delacroix for his masterpiece La Grèce sur les ruines de Missolonghi (1826).

In the two wings of the museum, discover four rarely exhibited drawings by Eugène Delacroix, presented for the first time alongside the original works, including the preparatory study for La Grèce sur les ruines de Missolonghi, recently acquired through the generosity of the Amis du Musée des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux.

This study is remarkable for its subject matter and technique, and reveals Delacroix’s virtuosity in conveying the dramatic tension of one of the most tragic episodes of the Greek War of Independence (1822-1830).

This is also an opportunity to discover three other works by Delacroix in the MusBA collections, such as Boissy d’Anglas à la Convention (1831), Deux Arabes assis (1846) and Le Miracle de saint Just (1847) based on the work by Rubens.
