How the project works
Pupils are asked to take on the role of a committee of World Heritage experts tasked with identifying the elements that meet the criteria for the inscription of “Bordeaux, Port of the Moon” on the World Heritage List.
They carry out an investigation to refine the components and thus work towards the continuous improvement of an object, our knowledge of it and its promotion. To do this, they must understand the reasons for the inclusion on the list and visit the site to discover the city and find out more about its cultural institutions.
A “commission investigation booklet” guides them around the sites and helps them to observe, question and refine the attributes of outstanding universal value. This principle encourages them to get involved, puts them in a real-life situation and guides them in their thinking.
The project can be broken down into a number of elements that the teacher can combine as they wish, giving the project the scope they want; from half a day to several days, anything is possible.
